Smartphones and tablets will be distributed to students from the second week of December: Government of Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: The government of Uttar Pradesh announced on Tuesday that it will start distributing smartphones and tablets to young people in the state from the second week of December, as announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. About 2.5 lakh of tablets and 5 lakh of smartphones will be distributed in the first batch, the government said in a statement.
A dedicated DG Shakti portal has been created for this, and it will soon be launched by the Chief Minister, he said, adding that through this portal, the distribution of smartphones and tablets and content will be given to students. Apart from this, information about smartphones and tablets will be provided to students from time to time on their cell phone numbers and email IDs.

The whole system, from registration to delivery of the smartphone and tablet, is free, he said. Student data is provided to the university by the respective colleges and the input of student data is done at the university level itself. As of Monday, the data of about 27 lakh students has been uploaded to the portal.

The process of feeding data to the rest of the students is also sped up, the statement said. A tender of Rs 4,700 crore has been launched by the government on the GeM portal for the purchase of smartphones and tablets, according to the press release. Financial offers from eligible companies will be opened after technical examination.

The work order is expected to be issued by the first week of December, the statement said. The move is growing in importance as the Samajwadi party has accused the BJP of honoring the poll’s promise to provide laptops and tablets to students only now, claiming that the chief minister (Adityanath) himself is not able to use a laptop.

“If he (Adityanath) knew how to use a laptop, he would have distributed them sooner,” the SP leader said at a reception at an inter-college in Azamgarh, his parliamentary constituency, on October 29. The BJP manifesto for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls indicated that students opting for higher education will receive laptops and tablets, as well as free data, and Wi-Fi connections will be installed in these establishments, said Yadav.

“The BJP had written in its manifesto that it was going to give laptops to children, but these are not traceable. I learned today from the newspapers that he was going to distribute electronic tablets. I want to know from them which tablet they had. has been giving these children for four and a half years? ” He asked.

“If chief minister baba opens the laptop we donated he will know who is coming to power,” he said and blasted Adityanath, saying he would not do so because he did not know. not how to use a laptop. . On October 23, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said his government would start distributing tablets and smartphones among young people by the end of November. He made the announcement during the laying of the foundation stone for a government medical school in Sultanpur.
