Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho said on Wednesday that schools should be closed if three people checked for COVID-19 with the disease – either students, teachers, or staff.

Dr Pechuho made the recommendation during a meeting at the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), as the country faces a third wave of the disease. COVID-19 positive school closed

Dr Pechuho said hospital records showed that Sindh’s condition was better than in other provinces.

The health minister has suggested that it would be better to postpone the tests for two weeks – and that one test should be performed in strict compliance with standard COVID-19 (SOPs) procedures. COVID-19 positive school closed

Commending his provincial authorities during the meeting, the Minister of Health said Sindh had done better than any other province in the fight against the disease.

Earlier in the day, Public Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood had announced that schools in Pakistan located on the coronavirus hotspot would remain closed until April 11.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 has doubled in the past three weeks and the positivity rate has remained above 8% in the past few days. According to NCOC data, the number of active cases was 17,352 on March 6 to 36,849 on Wednesday.
