Russia-Ukraine war: Will this have any effect on India ?

Russia-Ukraine- It is too early to say whether Russia’s war with Ukraine (Russia-Ukraine) will have an effect on India. But how America and other Western countries impose sanctions on Russia can also impact relations with India.

Especially because even though India is now less dependent on Russia for its weapons and ammunition, more than 50% of Indian weapons are imported from Russia.

India may be getting closer to America today, but India’s oldest and most trusted friend is still Russia.

Assault rifles, fighter jets, helicopters, warships and even nuclear submarines, India received from Russia.

Russia helped India at a time when other countries in the world used to cut each other off.

Ammunition was provided overnight

Even in the surgical strike (2016) against Pakistan, when India saw the possibility of war, India had taken ammunition from Russia itself.

And Russia without hesitation gave this necessary ammunition to India overnight. had been provided.

According to the report (2021) of the global think tank SIPRI, i.e. the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Russia is still the country that supplies the most arms and ammunition to the ‘India.

However, over the past ten years, India’s dependence on Russia has declined markedly. Between 2011 and 2015, Russia’s share of all arms, ammunition, warships and missiles imported by India was around 70%.

But between 2016 and 2020, Russia’s share fell to 53%. According to the report, India is now importing weapons from countries like America, France and Israel instead of Russia.

Russia has always been a friend

India was able to become a militarily strong country, so Russia has a big part in it.

Whether it’s the army’s T-72 tank or the army’s T-90 tank or the AK-203 rifle or the air force’s MiG fighter plane and the best fighter plane in the Sukhoi world, all were taken from India to Russia.

From warships to Kilo-class submarines, all of Russia has supplied India.

Despite sanctions around the world, it was Russia that leased a nuclear submarine, INS Chakra, from India to protect its maritime borders.

India is also taking the world’s most powerful S-400 missile system from Russia.

When India conducted its first tri-service exercise with any country in 2017, it was Russia. India’s tri-service exercise with America started after Russia.

India also took the S-400 from Russia

Talking about the current military relations between India and Russia, India has recently started to obtain the first unit (squadron) of the S-400 missile system from Russia.

India had signed an agreement for a total of five squadrons with Russia in 2016.

America has implemented the Katsa law regarding the purchase and sale of arms with any country with Russia.

Despite this, India reached a deal with Russia on the S-400 missile and America did not openly oppose it.

Apart from the S-400, India will soon start an AK-203 rifle factory with the help of Russia in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

An agreement was signed between the two countries in 2019 regarding these assault rifles. Apart from this, HAL is also producing Sukhoi fighter jets in India with the help of Russia.

About 20 years ago, there was a 272 Sukhoi fighter jet agreement between the two countries, under which Sukhoi fighter jets are manufactured in India.

Brahmos is also preparing India-Russia together

Apart from this, India and Russia are also producing BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles together. India recently signed an agreement with the Philippines for the import of BrahMos missiles.

Apart from this, the construction of two Indian warships is also underway in Russia. India now prepares most warships and submarines in the country itself.

Let us tell you that even after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, India had this problem because the factories and factories producing arms and parts for the Soviet Union were spread across different states, which are then became separate countries.

There are also many such factories in Ukraine whose engines and spare parts have been used by India until recent years.
