Resignation of Tirath Singh Rawat

In the 21-year history of Uttarakhand, no one except a chief minister could hold the presidency for 5 years. Tirath Singh Rawat, who was sworn in as chief minister four months ago, also tendered his resignation. So far, nine different chief ministers have taken the oath. The BJP alone has changed its chief ministers six times, now a new chief minister is elected for the seventh time.

But his journey also ends in just 122 days (March 1, 2002). Bhagat Singh Koshyari is currently governor of Maharashtra.

Congress gained power in the

year 2012, elections were held for the third assembly. Once again, the power is back in the hands of Congress. Congress pillar Vijay Bahuguna Joshi is sworn in as Chief Minister. But even Congress has not broken the practice of changing the chief minister. Bahuguna also had to leave the throne after two years. Congress leader Harish Rawat takes the reins of the Congressional government of Uttarakhand. Harish Rawat was Chief Minister for two years and two months. The president’s rule was imposed here. After that, Harish Rawat again became Chief Minister from May 11, 2016 to March 18, 2017.

In 2017, the BJP appointed Trivendra Singh Rawat as Chief Minister, in the
the year 2017, the Assembly elections, power was lost from the hands of Congress. The BJP formed its government with a full majority. This time, the BJP appointed Trivendra Singh as chief minister. He held state power for four years. It was believed that he would be the second chief minister to complete the five-year term, but that could not happen. Many BJP leaders in the state were not happy with him. In such a situation, it was decided to make Tirath Singh Rawat the CM. On March 10, 2021, Tirath Singh Rawat took office as Chief Minister. But he only had to leave this post after 114 days.
