Reminders go up as WhatsApp deadline updates the looms

Users who are yet to accept the new terms and conditions of the WhatsApp messaging platform will begin to receive “persistent” reminders after the May 15 deadline.

The changes are closely related to the way businesses communicate with customers.

Since their announcement, in January, there have been concerns about increased hopes of sharing information with WhatsApp parent company, Facebook, but this will not change.

Most of the $ 2 billion app users have already accepted, the company said.

Those who do not start will start to lose performance – first by not being able to see the chat list and finally by not receiving video calls and messages – but no accounts will be deleted.

Following the January announcement, users threatened to boycott the app with rival platforms such as Telegram and Signal to see record downloads.

But WhatsApp said they had been the victim of “incorrect information”.WhatsApp messages are encrypted at the end, to be read only on sender and receiver devices.

In a previous post, WhatsApp said the data it shared with other Facebook companies included:

  • phone number and other details provided in the registration (such as name)
  • details about the user’s phone, including design, model, and portable company
  • IP address, which shows the location of the users’ Internet connection
  • any payment and financial transactions made via WhatsApp

But this does not apply to Europe and the UK, where there are different privacy laws.
