T20 World Cup: The Indian team is expected to sign a new coach after next month’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The tenure of Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri is expected to end after the T20 World Cup. According to the media, Ravi Shastri does not wish to extend his contract. Ravi Shastri is currently 59 and according to the rules will only be able to coach the Indian team in the next few months, even if his contract is extended. According to the Inside Sports report, BCCI had offered Ravi Shastri to extend the contract for the tour of South Africa. However, he refused to extend his contract.

Ravi Shastri has been associated with Team India for seven years. He joined Team India as a manager in 2014. However, when Anil Kumble became coach in 2016, Ravi Shastri had to stay away from Team India for a year. Being Virat Kohli’s first choice, Ravi Shastri returned to Team India as a coach in 2017.

Ravi Shastri was first appointed coach of the Indian team until the 2019 ODI World Cup. The performance of the Indian team under Ravi Shastri was much better and his contract was extended until the world cup T20 2021.

Rahul Dravid is said to have become the coach of the Indian team after the departure of Ravi Shastri. The discussion intensified after Dravid took on the role of coach on the tour to Sri Lanka. But apparently, Dravid isn’t quite ready to become India’s full-time coach just yet. However, Team India is expected to have a new coach after the T20 World Cup and a new captain in the T20 format.
