Rahi Sarnobat- Olympic athlete Rahi Sarnobat showed sensational form to win gold in the 25m pistol at the ISSF Shooting World Cup on Monday, but teenage sensation Manu Bhaker finished seventh in the same ordeal.
Sarnobat’s gold is India’s first in the current edition after the country won one silver and two bronze earlier in the tournament.

The 30-year-old Sarnobat got a final score of 39 after qualifying second with a total of 591. Her extraordinary performance in the final included perfect scores in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth series.

The money went to Frenchwoman Mathilde Lamolle, who scored 31 in the final.

In qualifying, Sarnobat shot a brilliant 296 on rapid fire on Monday. His accuracy score was equally impressive at 295 on Sunday.

Bhaker recorded a total of 588 to qualify third after shooting a 296 in the quick shot on Monday, after an impressive 292 in the marksmanship on Sunday.

However, she was eliminated early in the final with a disappointing 11 score, losing a play-off to Bulgaria’s Viktoria Chaika.

Bhaker had teamed up with Saurabh Chaudhary for the mixed team silver with an air pistol at 10m.

She had previously won team bronze in the air pistol at 10m with Sarnobat and Yashaswini Deswal.

Prior to that, Chaudhary had won the individual bronze medal in the 10m air pistol.

This is the last competitive outing for the shooters bound for the Olympics, who will travel to Tokyo after their visit here.
