India’s exports of processed food products increased by 26.51 percent to Rs 43,798 crore during April-February 2020-21, despite COVID-19 epidemiological challenges, as per official data released on Friday.
The Ministry of Commerce said that the major products exported from India include pulses, processed vegetables, processed fruits and juices, groundnut, guar gum, cereal preparations, milled products, alcoholic beverages and oily food.

Value-added products such as processed vegetables and alcoholic beverages have seen growth of over 40 percent in April-February 2020-21.
Chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). Angamuthu said that this trend of increase in export of processed food products is likely to continue in 2021-22.
Demand for pulses, processed fruits and vegetables, and cereals has increased in markets such as the Middle East, the Far East, the US and the UK.

To boost exports, APEDA took steps such as virtual buyer seller meetings, product incentive meetings, webinars, promotional activities and providing financial support.
The virtual buyer meets the seller, it said, generating interest among global importers.
