Postpone JEE Mains 2022: Aspirant Demand NTA to Conduct Joint Entrance Exam After CBSE Term 2, Demand More Gap Days

Postpone JEE Mains 2022: Students have asked for a postponement of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Mains) exam this year, which is scheduled to be held between April and May this year, ahead of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Term 2 exam 2022. Students have also urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Education Ministry to provide more gap days between two attempts of the Joint Entrance Exam, citing the fact that CBSE term 2 exams coincide with the JEE (JEE).

A CBSE class 12 student told a leading portal that board exams are usually held in the months of February and March, but this year, due to the pandemic, exams are held exactly when the entrance exams are scheduled, forcing students to choose between board exams and the future.

Students used social media platforms to amplify their demands. Aspirants claimed, using the hashtags #JEEStudentsWantJustice, that the timetable was created with elections in mind. Students can be seen asking in video messages on Twitter, “JEE is not a joke, why are students being punished?” The hashtags #JEEMainsAfterBoards and #ModiJiHelpJEEMainsStudents are also being used by students.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court granted IIT-JEE aspirants the right to file a grievance with the National Testing Agency (NTA). A three-judge bench of justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant, and Bela Tiwari ruled that the court could not interfere with the authorities’ policy decisions, but that the petitioners could file grievances with the NTA.
