As quoted by AFP, FDA acting commissioner Janet Woodcock said in a statement that the move was “an important step in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.”

“Today’s action allows young people to be protected from Covid-19, which brings us closer to recovery and the end of the epidemic,” Woodcock said. “

“Parents and caregivers can be sure that the agency will carefully review all available information, as we have all the permits for the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine,” he added.

As reported in the reports, children make up about 20 percent of the American population. About 1.5 million cases of Covid-19 in people aged 11 to 17 were reported between 1 March,2020 and 30 April, 2021. According to experts, the virus is believed to be weak in children but can be passed on to high-risk adults.
