People blessed us, BJP to gain power in Assam: Sarbananda Sonowal

Encouraged by the initial trends in Assam’s election results, which showed that the BJP was ahead of its rivals, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday exuded confidence that the saffron party-led coalition would retain power in the state.
The ruling BJP-led NDA is overtaking the Congress-led grand alliance in Assam, ahead of 77 of the 119 seats, a trend available on the Election Commission website at 12.15 am.

“People have blessed us. We can definitely say that the BJP will form the government in Assam. We are coming back to power with our allies AGP and UPPL,” Sonowal told reporters.

Asked if the ruling coalition would be able to win 100 seats, as claimed by the saffron camp before the elections, he said, “The trends are completely in favor of the BJP. The party will achieve its target.” However, we will wait for the final results. ”

Mr. Sonowal holds a comfortable lead in Majuli constituency.
