New Delhi: The Pakistani navy recently claimed to have “detected” an Indian naval submarine in its territorial waters. The Pakistani military claimed on Tuesday that its navy prevented an Indian submarine from entering the country’s waters last week.
According to Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) claims, an Indian submarine was detected by a Pakistan Navy (PN) patrol plane on October 16.
ISPR also shared video footage of the alleged incident.
The video reportedly shows an Indian naval submarine at the depth of the periscope which is most likely pulled by a drone.
However, the authenticity of the video has yet to be established.
The Pakistani military said that during the prevailing security environment, strict surveillance was maintained by the Pakistani navy to protect the country’s maritime borders.
The statement said this is the third such incident in which an Indian Navy submarine was detected and prematurely tracked by the Pakistani Navy’s long-range maritime patrol aircraft.
The Indian Navy has yet to issue a statement in response to Pakistan’s claims.
An incident of this nature was last reported in March 2019, when the Navy detected and foiled an attempted entry of an Indian submarine, the statement said.
“The Pakistani Navy used its specialized skills to push back the submarine, successfully preventing it from entering Pakistani waters,” PN said in a statement at the time.
