One army soldier dies during training in scorching heat

One army soldier died and at least four soldiers became seriously ill during training for the Indian Army near Pathankot city in Punjab. Due to the heat, about two dozen soldiers had fainted during this training. The training included 11 officers, 11 JCOs and 120 jawans. A total of 10 jawans are still admitted in the hospital.

Indian Army’s Chandimandir (Chandigarh)-based Western Command issued a statement saying, “Due to inclement weather during an organized and supervised training activity near Pathankot, one jawan died while several jawans were admitted to Military Hospital in Pathankot. Gaya. Necessary medical treatment is being provided to the ailing jawans and the condition of all is being closely monitored.”

However, the Indian Army has not told in its official statement what kind of training was going on. But according to the information, the soldiers were ordered to take part in the 10 kilometer race. This race was part of the training of soldiers and was done to measure their capability. During this, there were also weapons and other military equipment on his body. Due to extreme heat and humid weather, about two dozen jawans fainted, out of which one died (One army soldier) and the condition of four jawans is said to be critical. 

This training was organized by the Ninth Corps (9th Corps) under the Western Command of the Indian Army. Ninth Corps is known as Rising Corps and is headquartered at Yol, Himachal Pradesh. The border of Pakistan adjoining Pathankot comes under this core.
