New online tax payment system, mobile app to be introduced later: CBDT in the upcoming e-filing portal

CBDT on Saturday said a new proposed online payment system and mobile app on its website which will be launched soon will open on June 18 as the site will be operational on Monday. A new e-filing link – www.incometax.gov.in – will replace the existing HYPERLINK “http: // www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in” existing – www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in from June 7.

“It has been clarified that a new tax system will be introduced on June 18, 2021 after the due date for tax avoidance to avoid any disruption to taxpayers,” the CBDT statement said. Earlier it was stated that the upcoming website will enable a new online tax payment system with many new payment options using net banking, UPI, credit card and RTGS / NEFT in any taxpayer account at any bank, for easy tax payment.

“The mobile app will also be released after the initial launch of this site, so that taxpayers can become familiar with the various aspects,” CBDT said. The draft policy of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) of the Department of Taxes and the filing website is used by taxpayers to submit their tax returns and perform other duties with the department.

“Getting used to the new system can take a while, therefore, the department is asking for the patience of all taxpayers / stakeholders for the first time after the launch of the new website and while other activities are being released as this is a major change,” the statement said. It says the new website aims to “provide taxpayers with a simpler and more modern, seamless experience for taxpayers”.


Added by another initiative by CBDT to facilitate compliance by its payers and other stakeholders, he added. A new friendly taxpayer portal has been integrated with the quick review of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) to issue quick refunds to taxpayers and all pending uploads or pending actions will be displayed on a single taxpayer next dashboard, it said. .
It will also have free ITR preparation software with collaborative questions to help taxpayers install ITRs 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to start and a place to prepare ITRs 3, 5, 6, 7 will be available soon, said the statement. Taxpayers will be able to update their details to provide specific income information including income, property, business / employment that will be used to first complete their ITR in the new web port.

Detailed approval of pre-payment of income, interest, dividends and receipts will be obtained after uploading TDS statements (source tax) and SFT statements (financial transaction statement) (effective date June 30, 2021). A new taxpayer call center is also being set up to quickly respond to taxpayer questions and the site will have frequently asked information, user manuals, videos and live chatbot / agents.
Tasks for completing income tax returns, in addition to tax professionals, submitting responses to notices on baseless inspections or complaints will be available, CBDT said. The current web site is currently under a “dark period” of six days until June 6th.
