NEET UG 2022: Students granted permission to protest at Jantar Mantar on August 17 for JEE Main, CUET, and NEET.

NEET UG 2022: Affected JEE, NEET, and CUET candidates will protest on August 17 at 10 a.m. as part of the ‘MAHA ANDOLAN’ for injustice done by NTA in their tests. Students and education activists are flooding Twitter with #chalojantarmantar protest demands for NEET UG, JEE Main, and CUET. Student activist Pawan Bhadana is in charge of organising the symbolic protest for the NEET UG, JEE Main, and CUET exams, according to digital posters shared on social media. On Twitter, a link to a Google form asking students if they want to participate in the demonstration has been circulated.

Aspirants for the JEE Main and NEET are initiating online campaigns and petitioning with the National Testing Agency (NTA) to hold an extra session of both entrance tests. Some NEET hopefuls seek a re-examination to enhance their marks, while others urge the NTA to arrange a re-examination for the medical entrance test. Meanwhile, engineering students are asking a third JEE Main attempt, claiming that technical issues prevented some applicants from taking the exam.

One Nation One Exam: NEET UG, JEE Main, CUET Merger

Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has proposed combining the NEET UG and JEE main exams into a single Common University Entrance Test (CUET) (CUET). According to the suggestion, only one CBT-based entrance examination for all JEE, NEET, and CUET will be held twice a year. If accepted, students may be able to take the exam twice: once in May-June (after the boards) and again in December.

However, the UGC’s plan has aroused different views over the inclusion of the NEET and JEE Main exams in the CUET, sparking debate among students, educators, and all other stakeholders.
