Following the trend of JEE Main and JEE Advanced – entrance exams for NITs and IITs – the Council of Architecture (CoA) has eliminated the minimum requirement for the Board exam marks for architecture courses. Previously, students should have earned at least 50 percent marks in total in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. However, there are now no minimum standards for admission to B.Arch’s five-year course. Students who have passed the 12th level of education in physics, chemistry, and mathematics as compulsory subjects will be able to earn a B.Arch accreditation according to their NATA rating.
The CoA in an official statement said, “As a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Council, with the approval of the central government, has revoked the eligibility for admission to the first year of a five-year B.Arch degree by amending the eligibility of study 2021-22 as no one will be enrolled in architecture of a 12th grade test program in physics, chemistry and mathematics or passed a 10 + 3 diploma exam in mathematics as a compulsory subject.”
Registration for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2021 will remain open until April 1 and testing will take place on April 10. NATA is held twice a year and a second test is held on June 12.
The Council of architecture will be conducting the exam on April 10 at several testing centers in 158 cities across the country. NATA 2021 will have multiple choice questions (MCQ), multiple select type questions (MSQ), preferred type (PCQ), and numerical answer type (NAQ). The NATA 2021 exam time will be of three hours and the medium will be in English.
