Nagaland: Schools closed till grade 8, Board exams to continue

The Nagaland government on Monday ordered the immediate closure of all schools in the province, including residential, for grades 1 to 8 students immediately. As directed by Secretary-General J Alam, this decision was taken due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.

Schools for classes 6 and higher reopened on February 8, with classes from 1 to 5 on March 22. Classes for all kindergartens / primary schools in all public schools will also remain closed, the secretary general said.

Classes can continue to use online mode, he said. However, regular classes for 9 to 12 level students will continue for now, Alam said.

In addition, ongoing testing of HSLC and HSSLC will continue to be strictly adhered to in all COVID-19 guidelines, he said.
