Microsoft may be working on new Snapdragon-powered Surface laptop to rival Intel, AMD

Microsoft Surface lineup is very popular among PC users, and the next product in it may give customers another reason to like Surface devices.

Microsoft appears to be working on a new Surface product, possibly a laptop, that will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset faster than the other Intel and AMD chips available on Surface laptops.

The Surface product name is unclear, but has already been cut off from the Geekbench benchmarking website.

The list shows the next Surface device with model number “EV2”, corresponding to previous models.

This numerical model also indicates that this Surface product has already entered the hardware testing phase, as EVT stands for Device Verification Test.

This test is performed to ensure that the product hardware is working properly before the final, internal and external design, is implemented.

The list also shows that the Microsoft Surface device will come pre-loaded with Windows 11 Pro, but it is possible that some versions of Windows may be available.

In terms of measurement results, the Surface device obtained 1005 in single-core tests and 5574 in multi-core tests.

These points indicate that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor, also mentioned in the list, will be equivalent to 25W Intel and AMD processors. But here’s the catch.

Only multi-core points come out on top. The single-core school is lower in the listed processor compared to its Intel and AMD counterparts. But take these effects for granted with a little hesitation, as they do not translate into the realities of the real world.

The processor will come with eight cores and burn at 3.0GHz. It is not yet clear whether this is the maximum or speed of the base clock.

The device may come with 16GB of RAM, according to the list, but this may be just SKU. Some specifications of the Microsoft Surface device listed in the Geekbench rating website are not yet clear.

But there is a good chance that Microsoft’s signature features will be available on this device. Ideally, this could be the Microsoft Surface Laptop SE, which has long been rumored.
