Coronavirus India Live Updates: Karnataka on Wednesday reported 50,112 new Covid cases. Of these, 23,106 cases came from Bengaluru. The state also reported 346 deaths, of which 161 belonged to the capital. Karnataka now has a confidence level of 32.28%.

K VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor to Center, has warned that a third wave of Covid infections is inevitable. “The third stage is inevitable, given the high rates of infection but it is not clear when the third phase will occur. Vaccines are effective compared to current variants. New variations will appear around the world and in India as well but variations that increase transfers may be flat. The variety of immune systems and the ones that reduce or increase the severity of infections will continue, ”he said.

Soon after taking oath as the chief minister for the third time, Mamata Banerjee has announced a slew of new restrictions to tackle the Covid crisis in West Bengal. All local trains in the state will be suspended from Thursday. From May 7, no air passenger will be allowed in Bengal without RT-PCR negative report not older than 72 hours. People entering Bengal via long-distance trains and inter-state buses must carry RT-PCR negative reports. Offices in Bengal should operate with 50 per cent workforce. Moreover, starting Thursday, banks will be operational between 10 am and 2 pm. Metro rail and government-run transport services will operate with 50% occupancy.
