Legendary Bollywood Actor Shashikala No More

Bollywood actor Shashikala passed away this afternoon at the age of 88. He reportedly breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai. An official statement from his family is still pending and the cause of death is unknown.
Following the news of the actor’s passing, several people have expressed their grief. Actor Rohit Roy took to Twitter and wrote, “Shashikala ji… RIP.” Even Parliament Speaker Praful Patel wrote on Twitter, “It is very sad that the death of veteran actor Shashikala ji. He has made a remarkable contribution to Indian Cinema by highlighting a few key roles. My deepest sympathies go out to her family members. May his soul rest in peace.
Shashikala’s negative contribution to Aarti (1962) was much appreciated. The film also features Meena Kumari, Ashok Kumar and Prideep Kumar. The famed actor was also part of several well-known films including Khubsurat, Anupama and I Milan Ki Bella. Other movies that Shashikala has contributed include Kabi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Baazigar. He has worked with almost all of Bollywood’s leading actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. Shashikala had starred in over a hundred films, both as a heroine and as a villain.
Not only in films but also Shashikala worked in television. She appeared in Fruti’s grandmother’s role in the popular television drama Son Pari. Shashikala has been awarded the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India for her contribution to Indian films.
