Kolkata Knight Riders beat Punjab Kings by six wickets

In the round of 16 match of IPL 2022 played at Wankhede, Mumbai. Having played first after losing the tow, the Punjab Kings team were at 137 runs. However, after that he had dropped four wickets for 51 runs in seven overs from KKR at once. But after that, Andre Russell played a stormy innings and gave KKR the win.

Andre Russell was the hero of this dazzling victory for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He played a stormy innings of 70 not in just 31 balls. Meanwhile, two fours and eight sixes came out of his bat. Sam Billings also came back undefeated over 24 races with him. A four and a six came off the bat from Billings.

Kolkata had a bad start

Pursuing the target of 138 runs from Punjab, KKR’s start was very poor. Venkatesh Iyer was once again a flop. He exited after scoring just three points. After that, Ajinkya Rahane also completed 12 races. Shreyas Iyer scored 26 points aggressively with the help of five fours. But on the other hand, Nitish Rana came out without opening the account. KKR lost its four wickets on the score of 51 runs in seven overs.

However, after that, Andre Russell and Sam Billings shared an unbeaten 90 runs for the fifth wicket to win the game for their team. Andre Russell muscled in 7 sixes in his unbeaten 70 from 31 balls as Kolkata Knight Riders resurrected from a stutter down the middle to complete the chase from 138 in just 14.3 overs.

So Kolkata bounced back to winning ways with a six-wicket win at Wankhede Stadium. Rahul Chahar threatened to win the match with his double whammy before registering an impressive bowling figure, but Punjab looked out of place to stop Russell.

Earlier, Umesh Yadav recorded his best IPL bowling tricks as Kolkata Knight Riders limited a Punjab Kings power hitting squad to just 137. Umesh finished with 4 for 23 – two on the power play and two in the middle – while Tim Southee picked two as Kolkata eliminated Punjab in 18.2 overs.

The remaining bowlers, particularly the spinners, complemented them perfectly in the middle overs, conceding 37 runs in eight overs, including 27 run balls and two boundaries between them. Without Kagiso Rabada and his impressive cameo of 25 runs on 16 balls, Punjab would have settled for an even lower total.
