Kalyan Singh Demise: “We have lost a capable leader”, PM Modi pays last tribute to former UP CM in Lucknow

“We lost a capable leader. We should make maximum efforts by taking his values & resolutions to compensate for him; we should leave no stone unturned in fulfilling his dreams,” PM Modi told the press.

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Lucknow and paid tribute to former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh. He died on Saturday night after being ill for a while.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by BJP Chairman JP Nadda, traveled to Lucknow on Sunday and drove straight to the veteran leader’s residence at Mall Avenue where he paid floral tributes and spent about 25 minutes talking to the family members of the late leader.

“Kalyan Singh ji made Jan Kalyan his mantra of life. He worked for the development of UP and the nation. He has become synonymous with honesty and good administration,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to the press, Prime Minister Modi was quoted by ANI: “We have lost a capable leader. We must make the maximum effort by taking his values ​​and his resolutions to compensate him; we must not neglect any effort to make his dreams come true. I pray to Lord Ram to give Kalyan Singh a place by his side and strengthen his family to endure this pain. “

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was also present at Kalyan Singh’s home to pay his respects. 

He war earlier quoted by ANI as saying, “Kalyan Singh’s demise has caused irreparable damage. We shared an old relationship. I’ve known him since I was elected as MLA in 1977 when he became UP Health Minister. It’s difficult to decide whether he was a leader, big brother or friend.”
