JEE Main 2023: Will Mains exam be postponed? Plea in HC seeks postponement of January exams, relaxation of 75% criterion

JEE Main 2023: A plea has been filed in the Bombay High Court requesting a postponement of the January session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2023) because numerous boards’ Class 12 pre-board exams are planned next month. The 75% requirement for JEE Main 2023 was also contested in the petition, according to the Bar and Bench. Anubha Srivastava Sahai, an activist and President of the India-Wide Parents Association (IWPA), filed a petition to postpone the exam because it conflicts with children’ pre-board and board exams in the same month.

On December 15, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the JEE Main test dates 2023. The engineering entrance exam will be administered in two stages, in January and April. Students began requesting JEE Main 2023 postponement soon as the exam dates were announced, citing a lack of time for preparation.

The need of 75% in Class 12 or qualifying exams to sit in JEE 2023 may affect lakhs of students who can score extremely well in the JEE mains but may not have 75% minimum marks in their board examinations, according to the PIL.

Due to academic loss during the COVID-19 epidemic, the NTA removed the JEE Main 75% requirement last year as a one-time measure.

The petition further noted that in the past, the NTA would announce the IIT JEE Main 2023 exam dates two to three months before the exam. However, the notification of tests at such short notice will not allow for adequate preparation.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) already announced that the JEE (Main) test will be place on January 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31. Session 2 of the exam will be held on April 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12.
