The 25-year-old man, identified as Param Sharma, is famous for posting videos of himself riding a Tesla with no one behind the wheel, showing off his glamorous life on social media.
On May 8, California Highway Police wrote on Facebook that they had been informed of a man riding in the back seat of Tesla on the streets of the Bay Area without a driver. They said the case was still being investigated and they were looking for the man.
Sharma was arrested over the weekend for sitting in the back seat of an autopilot Tesla Model 3. However, shortly after his release, he drove his car to an interview with KTVU, which is the news, on Wednesday while sitting in the back seat of a brand new Tesla, with no one behind the wheel. He even told the store, “I feel much safer here than I feel up there.”
KTVU reported that when asked if he had bought a new Tesla after his previous arrest, Sharma said, “Yes, I am as rich (expletive). I am very rich.”
Sharma has been jailed in Santa Rita for two counts of reckless or negligent driving, according to CBS News. Reportedly, Sharma often posts videos on her Instagram account @goldcollarlavish, where she reveals her wealth Indian-American man arrested.
According to Tesla, the self-driving feature does not make the car a self-driving car. The car manufacturer often emphasizes that the automation feature is a driver-assisted system intended for use only by a fully alert driver.
