India records a drop in covid cases. Records 30,000 infections, 350 deaths in the last 24 hours

India has registered a decline in covid cases as Kerala records19,622 new infections in the last 24 hrs.

Covid cases update: After witnessing a continued rise in coronavirus cases, the country recorded a decline on Tuesday. India has reported 30,941 new cases of COVID-19, 36,275 recoveries, and 350 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Active cases: 3,70,640

Total recoveries: 3,19,59,680

Number of deaths: 4,38,560

Vaccination: 64,05,28,644

Kerala recorded 19,622 new Covid cases and 132 deaths on Monday, bringing the number of cases to 40,270,030 and the death toll to 20,673. Health Minister Veena George said 1,17,216 Covid samples had been tested within the past 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 16.74%.

The nation’s capital reported 20 cases of coronavirus and one death on Monday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.04%, according to data shared by the health department here. The capital had not recorded any deaths from the infection in the past four days. The low number of cases can also be attributed to fewer tests (51,387) performed the day before. With the new cases, the overall number of infections in the city climbs to 14,37,736. More than 14.12 lakh patients have recovered from the disease. The death toll rises to 25,081

Maharashtra reported 3,741 new coronavirus cases and 52 new deaths on Monday, bringing the number of infections to 64,60,680 and the toll to 1,37,209, an official with the state’s health department said.

The official said 4,696 patients were discharged from state hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of patients recovered to 62,686,112.
The state, which now has 51,834 active cases, has 2,888,489 people in home isolation and 2,299 others in institutional quarantine, he said.

The recovery rate from COVID-19 in Maharashtra stands at 97.02%, while the fatality rate is 2.12%. The cumulative number of coronavirus tests performed in the state has risen to 5,38 12,827, of which 1,632,214 were performed in the past 24 hours, the official said.

Coronavirus tests are generally low on weekends compared to other days and that translates into a drop in positive cases on Monday.
