Ind vs NZ, 1st test: Ashwin fires Young after India sets 284 Run Target against New Zealand on Day 4

Ind vs NZ, 1st Test: Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was hit with the ball to give his opponents an early shake as he left Will Young towards the end of the day to ensure the Indian team returned to the happy side, and the Kiwis do not manage to leave unscathed.

On Day 4 of Ind vs NZ 1st Test Stumps, New Zealand was 4/1 while chasing a mammoth 284 run goal for the win. If the Kiwis are successful in the hunt, they will make history as no visiting team has chased more than 276 overall in the 4th round in India.

Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha and Axar Patel combined well after the tea break to build a solid position after debutant Shreyas Iyer fell for a hard-fought 65, pushing India’s lead past 250. Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee were the Kiwi Bowlers’ choice as a bagged duo with three wickets each.

Shreyas Iyer stabilized the Indian innings when the team struggled after losing five wickets for 51 runs. His 65-run innings included eight fours and a six.

Shreyas shared the 52-point stand with R Ashwin for the sixth wicket and the 64-point stand for the seventh wicket with batting goaltender Wriddhiman Saha. On the strength of these two partnerships, India has been able to get back into the race.
