IBMC will start IB board schools in the future, said Aditya Thackeray

Maharashtra Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray on Friday said International Baccalaureate (IB) board schools would be started by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the future and students would be provided free education in such facilities.

Maharashtra Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray said on Friday that International Baccalaureate (IB) boarding schools would be started by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the future and students would be offered free education at these institutions.

Thackeray, MLA of Worli and Minister of Defense for the Mumbai region, also said the BMC would start one CBSE school and one ICSE school in less than 24 administrative wards.

On Friday Thackeray opened a new BMC school, with 400 students, under the CBSE board at Aziz Baug in the eastern part of the capital.

Among those present at the event were Home Affairs Minister Nawab Malik, Shiv Sena Lok Sabha MP Rahul Shewale and Mayor Kishori Pednekar.

Thackeray said the opening of the school was a dream come true for him, adding that more than 2,000 applications had been received for the 400 seats we had. Speaking at the event, Malik said he was a product of BMC school, adding that there was a need to instill confidence in people through community-based educational institutions.
