Facebook’s dating functionality combines the best features of apps like Tinder and Bumble with the world’s most popular social media platform.
Here’s how to turn it on and start searching for matches. The information in this article applies to both iOS and Android versions of the Facebook mobile app.
Facebook Dating is a tool that allows you to interact with others on a social network to build romantic relationships.
You do not need to create a separate dating profile because Facebook uses information from your existing profile to suggest similarities based on similar interests. Others with open Facebook Dating will be able to see your profile.
You can’t communicate with other users unless you both show interest in each other, which can be compared to the Bumble and Tinder dating features.
Any of your current Facebook friends will not be nominated by the app. Similarly, your dating profile will be hidden from your friends who use the app.
Friends, on the other hand, can add to their list of hidden secrets, to arouse the likeness of a friend who loves you.
You must first create a Facebook account before using Facebook Dating. Because dating activity is based on your general profile, you should complete it as fully as possible.
Activity is integrated with the Facebook mobile app and there is no separate Facebook Dating app or Facebook Dating site.
Facebook Dating photos and other information do not show up on your regular Facebook profile. Facebook Dating conversations are kept separate from Facebook Messenger connections.
You can still access their dating profile if you become Facebook friends with someone after matching them to Facebook Dating.
To start using Facebook Dating, follow these steps:
- Open the Facebook app and tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner of your feed to access the hamburger menu.
- Select Dating.
- Set up your dating profile by following the directions. Your dating profile will be created using information from your Facebook account when you disclose your location and select a photo.
- You can make your Facebook Dating profile even more personal by adding additional details, photos, and Instagram posts. When you’re done, tap Done.
Individually, Facebook Dating will begin to recommend profiles. To see your recommendations, go to the Facebook App Contact Center at any time.
- To let the person know you like them, press the heart to their profile, or tap X to pass. You can start a conversation with them if they reciprocate your feelings.
- You will receive a notification if someone else likes your profile. To send a direct message, tap the heart on their profile to love them again.
- By tapping the similarities at the top of the app, you can see your similarities in conversations.
- Answer random questions that will help Facebook improve your match suggestions by scrolling down to your profile and tapping Answer question.
- You can change how the Facebook Dating app works for you by changing a few options.
- To access the settings, tap the gear on the screen where Facebook offers profiles.
- You can specify your preferred marital process under the Ideal Match page. You can control what appears on your profile by going to the General tab.
- Tap the ellipses (…) next to Instagram to connect to your Instagram account.
- To share your Facebook and Instagram stories, tap Connect News and (or both) Connect buttons.
