Google’s End of Support for Gmail, YouTube, Drive account sign-in for older Android phones Soon

Google’s will no longer support sign-in on Android phones running version 2.3.7 or lower. This change will take effect on September 27, revealing an email sent to Google by users.

Email recommends users to upgrade to at least Android 3.0 Honeycomb to continue using Google apps even after September.

This will affect system and system sign-in, but users should continue to be able to sign in to Gmail, Google Search, Google Drive, YouTube, and other Google services with a mobile browser.

In its report, 9to5Google shared an email screenshot sent to users who may have been affected by this change.

Users of older versions of Android may be too few and Google apparently does this to help protect user data and maintain account security.

As of September 27, users using Android version 2.3.7 and below will receive a “user or password error” whenever they attempt to sign in to any Google apps uploaded to the phone.

These emails are seen as a warning sign for these few users who are still using older software versions, urging them to update their software or change their phones.

After September 27, the report states that former Android users will experience an error when trying to sign in to Google’s products and services such as Gmail, YouTube, and Maps.

They’ll also get an error if they try to add or create a new Google Account or perform a factory reset and try signing in again.

Older Android users will get an error if they try to change their Google Account password, sign users on all devices, and then try to sign in again.

User error and password will continue to appear even after deleting the account on the device and trying to add it again.

In fact, there will be no more Android v2.3.7 functionality and less software users, and it is best to look for other ways to continue the smooth use of Google applications and services.
