The Commission wants the platforms to strengthen the eligibility requirements and content review processes for content monetization and ad revenue sharing programs in their services to prevent the participation of actors who post content systematically as inappropriate information.

Advertising technology companies should also identify the method used to place ads and use methods to ensure where ads are placed.

The document also requires companies to clearly and efficiently write political and media-based advertisements, classifying them as paid content.

The revised code of conduct also sets out key performance indicators for the first time to allow authorities to ensure that companies fulfill their obligations.

Companies will be given until the end of September to come up with a framework for their commitments. The Commission will present the revised code on May 26.
