Daily Covid cases to decline further, 100% of eligible population inoculated with 1st dose: Delhi Health Minister

New Delhi: The number of active Covid-19 cases in Delhi should see some relief as only 14,000-15,000 new covid cases are expected in the nation’s capital today.

Apart from this, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said around 2.85 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered in Delhi with 100% of the eligible population receiving their first shot and 80 % receiving both doses.

Delhi recorded 18,286 cases of Covid-19 on Sunday with a positivity rate of 27.87%, which was lower than that of Saturday which was 30.64%. The number of reported deaths was also lower on Sunday with 28 people succumbing to the infection compared to 30 people on Saturday.

Jain also responded to the blame raised by Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij that the number of Covid-19 cases in three districts of Haryana adjoining Delhi was high due to the ‘uncontrolled’ rise of the national capital. “Haryana is affected due to its proximity to Delhi,” Vij had said.

Jain called the allegation “political talks” and said, “I can also say how many people from Haryana are testing positive in Delhi. More than 1,000 cases of COVID-19 are being reported every day outside of Delhi. . »

On Sunday, the health minister said the Delhi government was carrying out Covid-19 tests three times more than required by the Indian Council for Medical Research.
