On the day that would be the last day to link the Aadhaar card to the Permanent Account Number (PAN), the Stock Exchange announced on Wednesday evening that the deadline had been extended to June 30 due to the ongoing Covid-19 disease.
The Central Government has extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar and PAN numbers from March 31, 2021, due to difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, ”the Tax Department of Twitter said on Wednesday evening.
“The date of issuance of the notice under section 148 of the Income-tax Act 1961, for the transfer of the directives issued by the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) and for the processing of equity tax statements has also been extended to April 30, 2021,” following tweet.
This marks another extension of the deadline due to the Covid-19 epidemic, linking the two documents; it has been extended many times in the past.
Earlier, in the event of a new extension, failure to connect Aadhaar to PAN would eventually lead to inefficiency. In addition, ₹ 1,000 fines would also be levied on individuals other than Aadhaar and PAN connected cards. This is because the central government, last week, passed the 2021 Finance Bill in Lok Sabha, introducing a new section 234H where a person will be liable to pay a fine.
There are various ways to connect Aadhaar card to PAN. It can be done online at the IT department’s e-filing website, incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, or by sending an SMS via a registered mobile number. It can also be done manually, by visiting the PAN card service center and completing the ‘Annexure-I’ form.
