Center has so far purchased 874 lakh tonnes of paddy from MSP for Rs 1.65 lakh crore

The center has received 873.68 lakh paddy so far for the 2020-21 advertising year ending September at approximately Rs 1.65 lakh crore.

Paddy’s acquisition reached a record high, surpassing the previous high of 773.45 tons in the KMS (Kharif Marketing Season) 2019-20, an official statement said.
“An estimated 129.03 farmers have already benefited from ongoing KMS procurement activities with an MSP value of Rs 1,64,951.77 crore,” it said.

Paddy acquisitions for the ongoing KMS 2020-21 are progressing well in purchasing countries. Kharif’s marketing season runs from October to September.

The center bought 873.68 lakh paddy tons (including Kharif yielding 707.69 lakh and Rabbi crop 165.99 lakh) until August 23 compared to 763.01 lakh tons in the same period last year.
The Department of Food Affairs said Rabbit Marketing Time (RMS) 2021-22 has ended in the importation of wheat.
As of August 18, a record amount of 433.44 lakh wheat was obtained compared to 389.93 lakh tons in the previous year.

“An estimated 49.20 farmers are already benefiting from the ongoing RMS procurement activities at an MSP value of Rs 85,603.57 crore,” the statement said.
The Rabi Marketing season runs from April to March. However, bulk wheat purchases were made during the April-June period.
