CBSE Board Exams: Students can change the exam centre for Class 10, 12 board exam, says CBSE

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed students to change locations where they wish to offer their 10th or 12th board exams. Earlier, the Board had previously announced that students would be provided with their schools as both examination and study centers.

In its latest announcement, CBSE said, “it has come to the notice of Board that due to COVID pandemic, some students of classes 10 and 12 along with families have shifted to some other city/country and therefore, they are unable to appear in practical exams/theory exam from the school/exam centre from where the students are registered for the Boards.”

According to the Board, the students who want to change their writing center will be required to submit applications to their schools till March 25 and schools will upload the same till March 31. If any student is suffering from COVID and is not able to attend the practical exams, he/she can request for change of exam centre.

Students can apply for a change in both practical and theoretical matters and anyone in particular. In their applications, students will also have to state the city or country in which they wish to take the examination. If any student wants to change both an active and functional exam center, the changed facility must be in one city, according to the rules.

Once changed, the city will never again be transformed. Schools where the student is enrolled will mark ‘T’ or appeal before the enrollment number on the online link. The result of this will be announced at the regional offices where they are registered.

The CBSE board exam is scheduled for May. This year, exams are being held almost the entire year of online teaching as schools remain closed due to the epidemic. The board is going to take exam on reduced syllabus. The syllabus was reduced to about 30 percent of the total syllabus to reduce stress on students.

In addition, CBSE also allows students a second chance to improve their grades. As a new rule, students in grades 10 and 12 will be given the opportunity to improve their performance in any one subject. To do the same, students will have to appear in room exams to be held “immediately after the major exams”, CBSE informed. Earlier, the students had to wait a year to get improvement papers.
