CBI registers case against GAIL officers

CBI on raids by GAIL officials: CBI registered a case under various criminal sections against half a dozen people, including the marketing manager of Gas Authority of India Ltd. In this case, cash jewelry and important documents worth 84 lakhs were recovered during this raid by CBI from many places including Delhi NCR. So far 5 people have been arrested in this case, the raids continued until late at night.

According to CBI Spokesperson RC Joshi, those against whom the case was filed include Pawan Gaur Rajesh Kumar N Ramakrishna Nair, Gas Authority of India Limited Marketing Manager S Ranganathan Saurabh Gupta, Aditya Bansal of the Bansal agency, etc. According to a CBI spokesperson, so far, except for Ranganathan, a senior GAIL officer, the remaining 5 people have been arrested.

According to the CBI FIR, he had received information that there had been fraud in the sale and purchase of petrochemicals marketed by GAIL between S Ranganathan, Marketing Manager, Gas Authority of India Limited, and two intermediaries Rajesh Kumar and Pawan Gaur. . It was also reported that bribes were also paid to this senior officer by private companies.

According to a senior CBI official, information was received that these two intermediaries had also met Ranganathan at his residence in Noida on November 11, 2021. A month later, Gaur informed Rajesh Kumar that the issue of exemption in GAIL was under consideration. It is alleged that after the information, the procedure continued by weaving a complete conspiracy in this affair.

CBI FIR alleges that Gaur and Rajesh Kumar met ES Ranganathan on December 14, 2021 at Leela Hotel in Delhi. Sources further stated that on December 17, 2021, Rajesh allegedly accepted bribes from others and handed over this amount to Gaur to be given to Ranganathan. It is also alleged that a day later, on Ranganathan’s instructions, N Ramakrishnan Nair of Gurugram collected Rs 40 lakh from Gaur’s residence.

The CBI FIR states that on December 20, Pawan Gaur asked Ranganathan to issue an exemption order. On his return from Bombay, he assured that he would sign the file. It is alleged that in this case, Rajesh Kumar also tried to curry favor with two other dealers, Rajesh told these people that Ranganathan was previously asking for Rs 15 lakh as a bribe but now he will accept Rs 12 lakh .

The CBI conducted a preliminary investigation based on information in this case and after the facts came to light during the investigation, set a trap and arrested a director of a committee of private persons of a company private. This private person allegedly received a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for the marketing manager of GAIL.

Soon after, the CBI raided the places of the defendants in places like Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Panchkula, Karnal, etc. From where 84 lakh rupees had been recovered till late night. According to CBI sources, some GAIL officials may also be arrested after initial questioning in this case. The raids continued late into the night.
