BJP MLC asks CM to cancel Class 10th UP Board Exams

Following the announcement of the Central Board of Secondary Education’s decision to cancel board exams due to Covid-19 status, Uttar Pradesh BJP MLC Mesh Dwivedi wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and CM deputy Dinesh Sharma asking them to cancel the UP Board Class 10 exam.

CBSE on Wednesday cancelled Class 10 exams and postponed Class 12 exams as the country sees an increase in coronavirus cases. In his letter, Dwivedi cited the example of the CBSE decision and asked for similar guidance in the state board review.
He demanded that the Class 12 test be postponed until the status of the Covid-19 was discovered. Dwivedi said that although exams are important, no exams are more important than a person’s life.

In its letter, the MLC called for special financial support for teachers who were not receiving adequate salaries as schools were closed. He said although the CM order only allowed for 50 per cent of office stays, schools had been rejecting the ordinance and calling for 100 per cent teachers in schools without regular courses. He called for action against the schools, adding that teachers should be allowed to take online courses in their homes.

Earlier, former UP minister and leader of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohiya), Shivpal Yadav, had demanded the postponement of the UP board exams which would begin on May 8. In his tweet, Yadav pointed out that after the dire situation of COVID-19, the government should postpone UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 exams.

Yogi Adityanath also has a Covid-19 contract and has split up where he lives in Lucknow. He announced the news in a tweet this afternoon. He also added that he would be monitoring the state government.

On April 13, Uttar Pradesh reported 17,963 new cases of coronavirus infection. The death toll from COVID-19 in the province exceeded 9300 mark with 85 deaths on Tuesday.
