BCCI tries to stop me from playing in Kashmir Premier League: Herschelle Gibbs

New Delhi: Former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs recently accused the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) of “trying to stop him” for playing in the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) and ‘have set up his “political agenda with Pakistan” equation.”

Making the accusation, Herschelle Gibbs took to the microblogging site Twitter and said: “It is completely unnecessary for the BCCI to put its political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and try to prevent me from playing in the KPL, “said the great Proteas. “[They] are also threatening me by saying that they will not allow me to enter India for cricket-related work. Ridiculous.”

Former Protea opener’s claim comes days after former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif made similar acquisitions and said BCCI is warning cricketing boards that if their former players participate in the Kashmir Premier League, they would not be allowed to enter India or work in Indian Cricket at any level or ability.

Besides Gibbs and Latif, several other cricketers, including Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan, Englishman Monty Panesar, and others, have been selected for KPL.

What is KPL?

The Kashmir Premier League is a Twenty20 cricket league founded by Pakistan in 2021. The league consists of six teams: five teams representing the cities in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) territory and one team representing overseas Kashmiris.
