48 layers of concrete were filled after excavation to support the structure that will come up within the temple complex.

The Supreme Court had in a landmark judgment earlier in November 2019 brought the curtains down on the Ayodhya land dispute.

The verdict by a five-judge bench gave Hindus 2.77 acres of the disputed land for construction of the Ram Temple and ordered that the Muslims be given a five-acre land at a prominent location to build a mosque in the holy city.

The Central government was also ordered to set up a trust to build the temple and manage the site.

The Babri mosque in Ayodhya was demolished on December 6, 1992, by ‘karsevaks’, who claimed that an ancient Ram temple stood at the same site.
