Aspirant kills himself over NEET in TN

NEET in TN :-Apprehensive over the outcome of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), a 20-year old medical aspirant allegedly died by suicide in the district.

K Keerthivasan from Sangarayapuram near here was present for the third time for the entrance examination held in September, the results of which are expected in a few days.

Police said the youngster had taken the test in 2019 and 2020, but was unable to erase. So he tried his luck for the third time this year. With the release of the answer key by the National Testing Agency, the youngster was reportedly upset and told his parents that he might not be able to pass the test this year as well, they said.

Despite his parents’ advice to wait for the results, Keerthivasan reportedly consumed pesticides on Friday afternoon and was admitted to the government hospital in Pollachi. Doctors caring for the teenager sent him to the government hospital here, where he died overnight, they added.
