Amarinder Singh to launch his own political party and hopes to deal with BJP in Punjab

Chandigarh: Putting an end to month-long speculation about the future of his political career, former Punjabi chief minister Amarinder Singh said on Tuesday he would announce the launch of his own political party soon.

The information was shared by Raveen Thukral, Singh’s media advisor.

“I will soon be announcing the launch of my own political party to serve the interests of Punjab and its people, including our farmers,” Thukral tweeted.

“The battle for the future of Punjab is on. I will soon announce the launch of my own political party to serve the interests of Punjab and its people, including our farmers who have been fighting for their survival for over a year. “he wrote in another tweeter.

Thukral also said that Singh is hopeful of a seat arrangement with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls if the farmers’ protest is resolved in the farmers’ interest.

Earlier, scotching speculations to the contrary, Singh said he would not join the BJP and continue to work for the development of the people of Punjab.

Shortly after quitting the Congress Party, Amarinder Singh met with Union Home Secretary Amit Shah in the nation’s capital, fueling speculation about his membership in the Saffron Party.

However, he said he raised security concerns with Home Secretary Amit Shah, as well as the issue of farmers when he met him.

Even the BJP was ready to welcome him, claiming that Singh is a nationalist and that all nationalists are welcome to join the party.

The BJP is seeking an alliance with Captain because he can play an important role in pacifying farmers, who have been protesting for nearly a year against the three agricultural laws.

Thukral also informed that Singh was considering alliances with like-minded parties, such as the Akali splinter groups.

The announcement comes as reports circulate that the captain’s new party will be the “Punjab Vikas Party”.

According to sources close to the IANS news agency, Singh will convene a meeting of leaders close to him in a few days to consider the formation of his new party, which will include all the leaders of the anti-Sidhu faction.

Shortly after leaving the Punjab CM, Singh said his first goal was to defeat the former Punjabian Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu.
