We (India) are not on the earth, there is no property there. It’s not that we’re not doing anything, we’re in touch with all the countries that are interested in Afghanistan. “
Earlier, Foreign Minister Harsh Vardhan Shringla addressed members of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) on Friday. He discussed the economic ties between the two countries with industry leaders. Shringla thanked the American business community for its support during the deadly second wave of COVID-19 in India. Along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu was also present at the USISPF trade roundtable. SISPF is an India-focused business advocacy group.
On Thursday, Harsh Vardhan Shringla met with senior administration officials Joe Biden, including US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Assistant Secretary of State Wendy Sharman, and discussed bilateral, regional and global issues, including current situation in Afghanistan. It was the first high-level meeting between officials of the two countries since the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan on August 31. After the meeting, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi tweeted: “Discussed bilateral relations and the situation in Afghanistan”.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla also met with several officials, including his American counterpart Wendy Sharman. Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu also attended meetings with Shringla. Sandhu tweeted that “I had a great conversation this morning” with Blinken and Sharman.
