Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav tore up Minister of State Upendra Tiwari on Friday for his bizarre remark that 95% of people don’t need petrol and diesel.
Speaking to the Minister of State, Akhilesh said the truth is that those people who Tiwari says don’t need petrol and diesel do not actually need the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Tiwari said on Thursday that only a handful of people used four-wheeled vehicles and needed gasoline. He added that 95 percent of the population does not need petrol.

Petrol and diesel prices hit their highest levels across the country as fuel prices rose again for the second day in a row with the highest margin so far this year, reaching more than 45 paise per liter.
The pump price of petrol in Delhi rose by 35 paise to its highest level of Rs 106.89 per liter, while diesel prices also rose by the same margin to reach Rs 95.62 liter.
