5 Questions To Answer This Weekend To Make Career Progress

A long holiday weekend offers a great opportunity to meditate and get a leg up on your work. Spend time honestly answering these five questions to make career progress before the end of the weekend:

  1. What do I want?

Though straightforward, that question is not an easy one to answer. Others struggle with insecurity and fear about admitting their true desires; others have never pressed a stop button in their busy lives long enough to give themselves space to do so. The key to answering this question is gaining clarity on what is most important to you.

  1. Do my actions align with my goals?

Being clear about what you want is not enough; you also need to align your goals with the goal of achieving them – and stay away from things that can discourage you. Practice awareness so you can understand how you spend your days.

  1. What changes do I need to make to support my goals?

Your environment, including your friends, coworkers, location, habits, and lifestyle, affects you more – for better or for worse – than you think; always a victory. You may have grown and developed, and what used to work may have changed. You cannot make an important, lasting change without changing the elements of your environment. If your natural tendency is slowing down, you should stop.

4. Am I positioning myself for success?

Do you make it easy for your intended audiences to quickly understand you, what you offer, your value, what differentiates you, how you can help them?

5. What’s stopping me from taking action?

Though you might be tempted to blame your lousy boss or the pandemic, what’s holding you back isn’t external; it’s internal. The number one barrier to success is fear.
