400 Encounters at J&K in 3 yrs, 85 martyred soldiers, 630 terrorists killed: Govt Tells Parliament Session

Six incidents of ceasefire violations

On the other hand, the government said on Tuesday that only six incidents of ceasefire violations had taken place in Jammu and Kashmir since India and Pakistan agreed in February to abide by all agreements relating to cross-border fire along the Line of Control (LoC). and the international border (IB). Nityanand Rai said there were 5,133 incidents of ceasefire violations in 2020, 3,479 in 2019, and 2,140 in 2018.

Nityanand Rai said in a written response that a joint statement was issued on February 25, 2021, after scheduled talks on the direct line between the director-general of military operations of India and Pakistan, in which India and Pakistan have signed all the agreements along the Line of Control and in all other areas from the intervening night of February 24 to 25, 2021, agreed to strictly adhere to the consensus and ceasefire.

According to the minister’s response, there were 380 incidents of ceasefire violations in January and 278 in February of this year. He said no incidents of ceasefire violations took place in March, while only one was reported in April, three in May, and two in June.

At the same time, on Wednesday, he told the Rajya Sabha that as of December 31, 2019, there were 4,78,000 prisoners in prisons across the country. Of these, 1,44,125 were guilty and 3,30,487 were still on trial. The minister said the number of women detained was 19,913.
