2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games: Singhraj Adhana wins the bronze medal with a score of 216.8 in the P1 – Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event at the Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday.

New Delhi: In another moment of pride for all Indians, Singhraj Adhana won bronze with a score of 216.8 in the P1 – Men’s SH1 10m Air Pistol event at the Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday. It was Singhraj’s first medal in his first Paralympic Games

His compatriot Manish Narwal, who had dominated the qualifying peloton, finished seventh, being eliminated with two bad laps. Singhraj finished with a score of 216.8 in the final to finish behind Chinese duo Yang Chao (237.9) and Huang Xing (237.5).

Singhraj started off brilliantly to take the lead in the early stages. However, a 9.0 on his fifth shot dropped him to second place as China’s Chao Yang grabbed the standings. He scored some 10.0 in the next round and survived a scare as he only managed 9.4 and 9.7 to drop back down to fourth place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the bronze medalist. Speaking to his official Twitter account, Prime Minister Modi said: “An outstanding performance from Singhraj Adhana! The talented Indian shooter wins the coveted bronze medal. He has worked extremely hard and achieved remarkable success. Congratulations to him and best wishes for the efforts to come.”

It was India’s second medal at the Asaka shooting range after Avani Lekhara won India’s first shooting gold medal on Monday. With the recent addition of the bronze medal, India’s tally reached 8, which is more than its total record at the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016. On Monday, won 4 medals.
